Many passengers arriving at UK airports face queues to get through passport control and customs with very little social distancing and poor ventilation. All the hallmarks of a super spreader event for covid.

Whilst most of the spotlight has been on London Heathrow other airports are experiencing similar problems.

Manchester Airport wow is all I can say….. a shambles. So it’s okay to be in a queue for an hour and a half with people coming off flights from red list not wearing masks, coughing and spluttering….. @BorisJohnson how is this right? Or Fair? I won’t be travelling again
Anick on twitter:
Do you really think it’s acceptable to have such inefficient border control systems at Manchester airport after the recent Heathrow farce? Hour long queues, zero ventilation and no social distancing whatsoever!
Manchester Airport tweeted in response to complaints:
We are sorry to hear you experienced delays coming through immigration. We are sharing all feedback with UK Border Force, who manage the process, and will be working with them to ensure that passengers enjoy the best possible experience going forward. Thank you.
Border Force is a law enforcement command within the Home Office. We secure the UK border by carrying out immigration and customs controls for people and goods entering the UK.
